Focus Groups
CHNC focus groups offer unparalleled opportunities for collaboration and research while learning from our collective experiences and expertise.
Collaborative Research Discussions
Since 2013, CHNC has supported disease-specific focus groups as well as groups interested in learning more about timely and emerging topics of interest in the fields relating to quaternary care Neonatology.
CHNC focus groups are led by volunteers and are open to all physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, subspecialists and medical trainees at CHNC member hospitals. Family members and CHNC data coordinators actively participate in our focus groups.
Our focus groups provide opportunities to:
- Collaborate with other Level IV NICU leaders across the US and Canada
- Leverage the rich data collected in CHND to understand and improve the care we provide to complex neonates
- Produce high-quality clinical outcomes and/or health services research
- Advance academic careers by offering a forum for interdisciplinary national collaborations and leadership opportunities
- Develop evidence-based guidelines to improve clinical care for infants in Level IV NICUs
- Understand how variation in practice impacts health outcomes of infants cared for at CHNC centers
- Identify areas to focus future quality improvement initiatives
- Develop educational materials and content for CHNC centers to support medical trainees and families of infants with complex medical conditions
- Provide real-world data analyses to enhance parental counseling for infants with complex, uncommon diseases in our field
- Survey CHNC center leaders to understand local clinical practices and improve clinical care
- Partner with families of infants cared for in level IV NICUs to incorporate their needs and insights into research and advocacy efforts
