Neurosurgery

Our mission is to improve the clinical care of infants with neurosurgical conditions by creating a base of evidence utilizing data obtained through the institutions represented in the CHNC.

Introduction

The Neurosurgery Focus Group is comprised of neonatologists, neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners, neurologists, and data abstractionists from CHNC member sites who all have an interest in the clinical care of infants with neurosurgical conditions. These include infants with a primary diagnosis of hydrocephalus, intraventricular hemorrhage, myelomeningocele/ spina bifida, Vein of Galen, among others.

The work of the group is centered on understanding medical and surgical care across CHNC member sites related to these patient populations and, were possible, aligning best practices and sharing data-informed insights utilizing CHNC resources. To achieve these aims, projects spanning methodologies are planned or underway and include: descriptive cohort analyses, survey studies, educational initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.
