Transport

Examine transport practices while providing multicenter collaboration to standardize care and improve outcomes of neonates during transport.

Introduction

The CHNC Transport Focus group was launched in 2024. It is a multi-center collaborative forum that aims to better define transport practices, evaluate team dynamics, standardize management protocols and improve outcomes of babies transported to and from quaternary neonatal ICUs across North America.

Mission

Our mission is to improve the outcomes of transported neonates. Additionally, we intend to:

  • Quantify neonatal transport and describe varied transport practices, team structure and patient characteristics across the CHNC.
  • Analyze consortium data and explore best practices in the field of neonatal transport medicine.
  • Serve as a resource for neonatal transport teams and intensive care units, providing content expertise for the transport of critically ill babies.
  • Leverage the large patient numbers to help guide the standardization of neonatal transport nationally and internationally.
