Introduction

The Emergency Management Focus Group is committed to strengthening neonatal safety and resilience by identifying risks, developing clear and actionable emergency workflows, ensuring equipment and staff readiness, and fostering seamless coordination across clinical teams and hospital emergency management. Through continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation, we safeguard the most vulnerable patients and support the teams who care for them.

Mission

Strengthening neonatal safety and resilience by identifying risks, developing clear and actionable emergency workflows, ensuring equipment and staff readiness, and fostering seamless coordination across clinical teams and hospital emergency management.

Goals/Aims
  1. Establish standardized evacuation acuity-based prioritization tools and processes.
  2. Create communication and family notification protocols.
  3. Create, implement and validate transport, equipment and supply readiness standards.
  4. Develop training modules and drill scenarios.
  5. Foster a culture of preparedness through ongoing engagement and simulation.
  6. Conduct and analyze after-action insights and metrics­­ Create a safe, prepared environment by equipping care teams to anticipate challenges and deliver confident, uninterrupted emergency care for newborns and families.
